Book Description

London: Grant Richards & Humphrey Toulmin, 1929. First edition and only. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust jacket has some mild shelf wear, and some light handling marks. It has not been price clipped (3/6 net). There are a couple of neat tape repairs to the verso. Complete with the wrap-around band which advertises another book in the series, A Handbook on Hanging (1928) in red lettering. The paper-covered boards, which match the jacket, are sharp. The cream title label is clean. There is a touch of foxing to the text blocks. The attractive bookplate of Harry Henry is pasted to the front fly. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in very good (or better) condition. One of a series of similar books my favourite being A Handbook on Hanging. This is an impish self-help satire commending crime as a career the real truth is that crime is a highly respectable, semi-skilled, sheltered occupation .
