Daughter of France, inscribed to Sissinghurst gardener

Book Description
London: Michael Joseph, 1959. First edition, first printing. This is a very good copy. The jacket is a little nicked throughout, and chipped and creased at the extremities. The verso of the spine tips is reinforced. It has not been price clipped (25s net). The boards are sharp, but a touch creased in places. The webbing is a little visible between the frontispiece and front fly, but is all secure. The text blocks are clean. The folding genealogical table is present. This copy is inscribed by Vita Sackville-West, it reads: 'Ronald, | from Vita | Easter 1959'. The recipient, Ronald Platt, was Sackville-West s gardener at Sissinghurst from 1957 to 1959. His ownership inscription, Platt, is present in pencil on the front fly. Overall, this is a very good copy of a fine association copy.
The biography of Anne Marie Louise d Orléans, duchesse de Montpensier, first cousin to Louis XIV and the great heiress of France.
