London: MacLaren & Company, 1906. First UK edition. This is a very good copy. Sage green cloth with stamped illustrations to the front panel. The spine is somewhat sunned, and there are mild handling marks throughout, with a touch of rubbing. The prelims are lightly foxed and there is a contemporary ownership inscription to the front fly, dated January 1924. The text blocks are remarkably clean, but with some slight foxing. Overall, this is a very good copy. A lesser known work by a titan of Russian literature.
