Dealer Notes
A charming group of images documenting Ralph Geasland’s trip to Bahrain. They capture local sheikhs and sepoy policemen, showing some of the different ethnicities living on the island. These images were taken at an inflection point in Bahraini society where the traditional economy - predominately the pearl industry - would be overtaken by the discovery of oil.
Whilst this cataloguer hasn’t been able to find any further information on Geasland, he appears to have been from the United States. This cataloguer presumes that Geasland was visiting the island in a official capacity.
