Larks of London, or, The Swell's Guide
Book Description
Published anonymously under the pseudonym Dick Rambleton. Without the folding frontispiece illustration. Publisher's wrap intact to rear, else unbound; title page starting to come away at the bottom of the textblock, else smart with just light edgewear to the leaves. Only three known extant copy, this being an unrecorded publication: one of the surviving examples is from the collection of Madeline Kripke, documented in a 2013 article - this copy was left in Kripke's will to the Lilly Library. A very rare and unrecorded pamphlet on London night life in the early to mid 19th century, documenting 'flash crimes, harmonic meetings, cock and hen clubs, night-houses, little goes, big goes, flash houses and seducing houses'.
