First edition, 1977. Hardback. Folio. 87pp plus 81 plates (most multiple images). Three etchings by Robin Tanner signed in pencil: Title page: “Wren and Primroses”; Page 85 “Full Moon” and Page 87 “The Old Road”. Quarter blue morocco over tan cloth. Gilt titles to spine and top edge gilt. The book begins with a series of essays on etchings and etchers before progressing to an A - Z of British etchers with brief biographies for each. This is followed by an appendix listing minor etchers; a list of drypoints and etchings by Edmund Blampied; The etchings of Muirhead Bone; a provisional list of the etchings of C. R. W. Nevinson; and a chronological list of the etchings and drypoints of Joseph Webb. There then follow the 81 plates of illustrations which include, amongst others, illustrations of works by C. Aldin, W.
