Provenance: Presentation inscription to flyleaf “A. V. Shackleton Sydenham Geraldine Bussey".
Dealer Notes
Butler’s memoirs of her life as an artist also relate details of her marriage to Sir William Butler, and chapters 15 to 18 describe her visits with him to Egypt. Her sister was the poet Alice Meynell, and addendum at the rear notes the death of Alice Meynell as the book was going to press. The previous recipient of this copy was A. V. Shackleton - Amy Vibert was a sister of Ernest Shackleton, the Antarctic explorer.
