174x132mm. Single sheet, single sided. Headed at Gorringes, Downe, Kent and dated 28. 9. 46. Written in dark blue biro. It reads: ‘Dear Mr. Moore, | Many thanks for your | letter & list of fixtures. I am | very glad to see you are going | to the North course at Mildenhall. | I shall much hope to come to the dinner in Jan. | Forgive a brief answer as | I’m just off a night journey from | St. Andrews, & very sleepy & with | many [?] to mark up for writing. | Yrs sincerely | Bernard Darwin’.
A short, but cordial letter from Darwin. Here he mentions two of Britain’s greatest golf courses – Royal Worlington (Mildenhall – The Sacred Nine), and St. Andrews (the Old Course).
