Book Description

A near fine first edition, first impression of Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia, the second published novel in C.S. Lewis’ beloved children’s fantasy series. Lewis finished writing Prince Caspian in 1949, before the first book was out; sequenced according to the internal chronology, Prince Caspian is the fourth volume of the Narnia books, deepening the mythology of Narnia and introducing a new beloved character. Like the other Narnia titles, the text is ornamented with black-and-white illustrations by English artist Pauline Baynes, known also for her cover illustrations for J.R.R. Tolkien and her poster map of Middle-Earth. Wear to jacket extremities, particularly top edge, with slightest discoloration and small closed tears (14mm and 7mm) to head. Boards are remarkably free of wear and remain neat, with the exception of some discoloration to head. Binding firm and tight. Internally clean and bright.
