Emma
Book Description
This beautifully produced copy of Austen’s iconic comedy of manners Emma is complete in a single volume and features a number of black and white illustrations by Hugh Thomson, the Victorian Irish artist made popular for his pen-and-ink illustrations of classic works of literature. This edition with Austin Dobson’s introduction is a reprint of the first Thomson edition published a year earlier, and it features striking gilt floral ornamentation to the front cover and yellow endpapers with peacock illustrations that evoke Thomson’s iconic “peacock edition” of Pride and Prejudice.
Fading to spine, minor bumping to corners. Binding firm and tight. Internally clean, with the exception of a few marks in pencil. Decorative gilding to front board and edges remains exceptionally bright.
