Poems from Italy, signed by Sassoon

Book Description
London: George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd., 1945. First and only limited edition. This is a near fine copy. Bound in full dark blue crushed Morocco, mounted to the front panel is a portion of the silk ribbon from the Italy Star medal. Slightly sunned at the spine, though a superior copy, the binding is bright and tight. The text blocks are free from foxing, and the top gilt edge pristine. This is an unnumbered copy, which bears Siegfried Sassoon's monogram to the colophon. Overall, this is a near fine copy, marred only by the slight toning to the spine.
Comprising of 72 poems, written by 47 writers. The poems were submitted in a poetry competition by those who served in the Italian Campaign from 1943-45. Each poem was written in Italy during the first nine months of conflict.
