Dealer Notes
Yakushi C77; Perret 0864. Report volume of the expedition led by Riccardo Cassin, with a mountain party that included Reinhold Messner, and accompanied by a group of researchers from the CNR. The attempt to climb Lhotse (m. 8516) was made via the treacherous 3000-meter wall on the southern Nepalese side of the mountain. Persistent bad weather and avalanches forced them to abandon their attempt on May 20, 1975. The wall was climbed during the controversial ascent of Tomo Česen in 1990. This copy also has the official postcard of the expedition, with CAI cancellation and Italian and Nepalese postal cancellations, signed by all members of the expedition.
