Great Western Railway map. Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth Railway and Kingswinford Branch (O.W. and W Railway) 1933. A very large extending map on folding linen. Presumably intended for internal company use, the covers have the words Secretary’s Office gold-stamped beneath the title and a lable or bookplate of the GWR manager’s office inside. On folding linen in 59 sections, size 12.5 metres-about 41 feet long- by 30 cm. Scale 2 chains to the inch, or approximately 40 inches to the mile. The maps covers a stretch of line that includes Brockmoor Halt (Brierley Hill), Pensnett Halt-with links to collieries, brickworks etc.- Cornal Halt, Himley station, Wombourne station, Penn Halt, Compton Halt, Tettenhall station and the Oxley Branch junction. The map includes information on the ownership of land adjacent to the line.There is a wealth of detail on local industry and workings on both sides of the line and various canals are shown where they are near the railway. Folds into stiff dark leather boards size 31 by 23 cm. with the title gold-stamped to the front. VG condition
