First edition, 1870. Hardback. Folio. 31pp. Sixteen full-page colour illustrations, engraved and printed by Edmund Evans. Gilt to front and spine. All edges gilt. One of the most iconic children’s books and very difficult to find in good condition due to the decay of the original gutta-percha binding.

Good condition. Some spotting and marks throughout. Final few leaves have a little dampstaining. Final text leaf laid down with some tape repairs. Page 11 loose. Endpapers renewed, recent green cloth, original gilt decorated spine and front cover relaid.
