Book Description

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1933. First edition, first printing. This is a near fine copy. The dust jacket has some wear to the edges and a hint of toning at the spine. The price, as called for (7/6) is present on the spine. The cloth is sharp and the binding sturdy, with the author's monogram in gilt to the centre of the front panel. That being said, there is a slight rippling in the cloth to the front panel. The text blocks are mainly clean, but have some slight foxing and evidence some very minimal tears to 178-9. Overall, this is a near fine copy and a better example of what is usually found. Buchan's twenty fifth novel. It is an adventure or espionage work, which follows the deeds of Andrew Melfort who, after doing a stretch for a crime committed by his ex-wife, marauds behind enemy lines in the Great War.
