Perret 2288. Translated from the author’s Mount Everest The Reconnaissance (1922). This copy was presented by Prince Roland Bonaparte (1858-1924) to A. R. Hinks (spelt “Hincks” in the inscription), who as joint secretary of the Mount Everest Committee played an important, and occasionally controversial role, in the British Everest expeditions of the 1920s.
