An Atlas of Modern Geography compiled and drawn from the latest observations by James Wyld, published by Wyld, London 1863. In stiff cloth-covered boards with blind-stamped decorations, size 23 by 15.5 cm. With 26 double-page maps, some opening to a larger size and all with no text to the reverse. Includes a 48-page index. Maps hand-coloured. The atlas is unusual in that it includes detailed maps of east and west Australia, the former termed "The Gold Regions" . Spine restored and small tears to some folds by the hinges repaired with archival quality clear tape to reverse. Owner's name in ink (dated 1866) to front endpaper. Good condition.
