The story, set in a small town in Midwest America during the 1940s and 50s, depicts the life of Lucy Nelson. The book is in near fine condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is a crease to the spine and bubbling to the back board. The end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions. There is foxing to the end papers and all the edges. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in fair condition with loss to all the corners, loss, a tear, a small nick and nibbling to the top edge of the front cover, a tear and nibbling to the bottom edge of the front cover, nibbling to the top and bottom edges of the spine, a tear to the top edge of the back cover, a tear and nibbling to the bottom edge of the back over and wear to the edge of the back cover.
