My Left Foot, Christy Brown, Secker & Warburg, 1954, First Edition First Impression An incredible biographical portrait of how Christy Brown, considered as mentally deficient as he was physically in his very early years, having been born with Cerebral Palsy, learnt to write with "My Left Foot". Dramatised in 1990 with Daniel Day-Lewis playing Christy Brown (Best Actor) and Brenda Fricker playing his mother (Best Supporting Actress) winning Oscars. Now scarce. The book is in near fine condition. The binding is straight and tight, the burgundy boards are clean with a minor dent to the top of the rear board. The silver lettering on the spine is bright. The end papers. pages and page edges are free from marks, tears, inscriptions and foxing. Red tint to top edge retained. The original unclipped jacket (showing "9s. 6d. net"), protected in a clear and removable cover is in good+ condition with loss to the top and bottom of the spine and a couple of other small nicks. Spine is sunned with a mark. Front, rear and both returns stand up very well. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
