Book Description

A Book of Mediterranean Food, Elizabeth David, 1950, John Lehmann, Hardback, First Edition, First Impression Her first book. A culinary classic. After years of rationing and wartime austerity, this book brought light and colour back to English cooking, with simple, fresh ingredients from her experience of Mediterranean food whilst living in France, Italy and Greece. The book is in exceptional (near fine) condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean with a couple of marks and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions. Any toning is minimal and absolutely zero foxing. Very collectible with decent first impressions becoming hard to find. The first print run was low as the book was intended for serious foodies. Will be dispatched promptly fully insured and professionally wrapped.
