This volume devotes several paragraphs to the “Return of Dr. Mawson”, with an accompanying illustration (pp. 36-9), and continues with news of “Sir Ernest Shackleton’s New Expedition”, which departed from the Thames in August 1914. The volume is otherwise largely given over to events of the First World War, and features images of the various politicians, generals, and admirals, as well as a memorial notice for Alfred Russel Wallace.
