This is a Very Good Copy of this book in two tone blue and grey cloth boards with paper title label to spine lettered in black.It comes with it's rather rare and original dust-jacket graded Good and which has a few small chips and tears along the outer edges of the wrapper and with some tape applied on the underside of the wrapper along some edges.,small chip to bottom right corner of the front cover.Not clipped to inner flap with price of 10/6 showing to the spine.There is a small scuff to the front pastedown where tape was previously applied to the protective cover over the d/j and now removed.There are NO former names present within.Illustrated with a total of 31 plates.Book has a firm binding with NO hinge weakness.There is some spotting noted to the text block edges.Napoleon's letters to his second wife, Marie Louise, reveal his attempts to mold her from a naive girl into an Empress, showing a surprising mix of political calculation and genuine affection.It covers daily life and life at war,his longing for her presence (and an heir), and even practicalities with themes of duty and military updates.Certainly a rare title in original wrapper,First UK Edition 8vo 290pp [1935]
