This is a Very Good Copy of this book in blue buckram with gilt titles to both spine and upper cover and with further gilt vignette of deer's antlers and sheep horns to the upper cover.Top edge of the book is in gilt with other page edges rough cut.A pretty rare account of the chase of he Chamois,Red Derr,Bouquetin,Roe Deer,Capercaillie,Black Cock with personal adventures and Historical Notes and in addition there are some sporting reminiscences of H.R.H. The Late Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.Illustrated with 17 plates drawn from life and a further 18 plates wrapped in and around the text.No front endpaper though it appears it may have been pastdown down onto the front pastedown,half title present.With frontispiece of a deer cross between red deer and wapiti stag.Contents are clean internally,slight spotting to pre-lims and browning or offsetting to the rear endpapers.This scarce work was acquired from a hugely impressive library of books on Big Game Hunting and shooting in the UK Asia,The Far East,America,Canada,Africa and New Zealand.Thick and Heavy 8vo 356pp + 4pp of publisher ads to rear of the book.First Edition [1896]
