1st Edition 1906. Signed Inscription from Edward Elgar to the title page. Very uncommon. Inscription reads ' To W Jos Need Edward Elgar Here Found Harmony. With many thanks for much kind help.' The Kingdom, Op. 51, is an English-language oratorio composed in 1906 by Edward Elgar. It was first performed at the Birmingham Music Festival on 3 October 1906, with the orchestra conducted by the composer, and soloists Agnes Nicholls, Muriel Foster, John Coates and William Higley. The dedication is "A. M. D. G." Elgar wrote The Kingdom for choral and instrumental forces. Book is good++ and in bright condition. Original covers and spine missing but new card spine added. A few pages with slight loss and nicks to edges. Contents good with under marking to some page notes.
