Book Description

Hardback. Very pretty edition in black cloth with Art Nouveau gilt decorations to both front and spine and a colour illustrated paste-down to the front. With a frontispiece and seven further colour plates (as called for) by Rose Le Quesne. Eight stories drawn from The Faerie Queen by Edmund Spenser. No date but appears Edwardian. Pages are rough cut, and a little foxed. One plate has a closed tear about an inch long from the top edge. Tiny area of exposed board to one corner. Corners are slightly bumped. Previous owner’s name to the endpaper. Very clean, with bright gilt and beautiful, bright colour illustration to front. Text is clean and, with the exception of the slight tear on one, with bright neat plates. A very attractive edition.
