Dealer Notes
This record of the engineering projects undertaken by the company of Rendel, Palmer & Tritton - marked “Confidential” on the title-page - illustrates their involvement in both domestic and overseas works. From bridges - Waterloo Bridge, Lower Zambesi Bridge, Rokel Bridge in Sierra Leone - to power stations in Yarmouth or Delhi and docks in Tilbury, Haifa and Aden, the firm had a truly international profile. Two of the sketch maps derive from surveys undertaken for the Trans-Iranian Oil Pipeline, and for the Middle East Pipeline proposed from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean. As well as docks built for BP and the Iraq Petroleum Company, the images also show jetties built at Mina-ak-Ahmadi for the Kuwait Oil Company and at Bandar Mashur for the Iranian Oil Ckmpany. Also featured is a view of the ‘Oil-loading Jetty, Kuwait’, at the time the largest such jetty in the world.
