Mendelssohn II.610; Theal p. 332. Annie Wilkinson (1844-78) married Edward Wilkinson, who became the inaugural Bishop of Zululand. In 1870, the Wilkinsons' missionary group departed Falmouth in England for Zululand via Natal. “The volume affords considerable information respecting social and political life among the colonists and natives of Natal and Zululand at this period, and includes a few details regarding the author’s travelling experiences in the Transvall . . . she does not speak well of Cetywayo” (Mendelssohn).
