SOUTH. The story of Shackleton's last expedition 1914-1917.
Book Description
Fourth printing. March 1920, four months after the first edition, and in the same format. Large 8vo. (10.1 x 6.5 inches). Illustrated with colour frontis, five maps-including one large folding colour printed map at the rear, and 87 mono photographic plates. A little offsetting to the blank endpapers. One of the plates has a frayed edge, but well away from the images. Overall this is a very good clean copy internally. The first impression was printed on poor quality paper and is prone to browning. A better paper was used on this later printing. Publishers dark blue cloth binding with silver illustration of The Endurance to front board. Spine and front board lettered in silver. Publishers blind stamped device to back board. A few small white spots to the cloth and a little minor rubbing to the edges but overall this is a very good copy of this classic book.
