Half sprinkled 'antique' brown calf with marbled boards and double blind ruling finish to both boards, five raised bands to the spine with gilt decoration and red title label with gilt lettering, blind ruling to raised bands and silk head and tail bands. Recent fine binding by J. Fellowes with his ticket pasted inside rear board. In excellent condition, clean, fresh and bright. Illustrated with a fine full page copper frontispiece, 3 full page plates, decorative wood engraved capitols and end pieces. Internally clean and crisp with very sporadic foxing marks to the wide margins, a neatly repaired tear title page and one tiny and neat worm hole from page five of the Preface to page 167, please see photos. With all that mentioned a very good clean wide margined copy of a scarce 18th century book. Frontis, title page, i-viii, 1-360, leaf of Approbation dated 1736. Informative and fun trip with political, military and moral reflections.
