Dealer Notes
First edition and complete: at foot of last page is printed 'The End of the First Volume' (sometimes pasted over with a slip reading 'THE END'), but the project was abandoned, a second volume (in 8vo) appearing 1728. Foxon p.907 allows fine paper but not large paper copies. Copies do vary in size according to the trimming, but it is a lavishly printed book and the text margins are usually adequate. Not so for the magnificent portrait described by Pforzheimer 1101 as “the most famous of literary mezzotints”). It has frequently been abstracted for sale as a print, but where present it can sometimes be trimmed. In this copy it has adequate margins.
