Book Description
First edition. A fine copy, with a couple of tiny spots on spine; top edge gilt. Foreword by Brig.-Gen. E. Makins and signed by him on half-title; 2 p. ALs from him laid in. Lavishly illustrated with tipped-in or hand-stencilled full colour plates (some in sepia), in-text maps, four folding ones at rear. Makins's obituary affixed to ffep; ; also a related newspaper clipping and an unrelated holograph poem. A few splits and large 'dng' to slipcase, otherwise VG.

An in-depth study of the oldest cavalry regiment which served in many of the British Army's most important campaigns.The author was a History Lecturer and Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford — a noted military historian who published numerous works on the British Army.
