Book Description

First edition. “A Review of Art and Ideas at the Close of the Nineteenth Century”. Original reddish buckram a trifle spotted on front cover and somewhat sunned around spine (2 cm faded oval patch); gilt decoration and lettering still bright; top edges gilt. Neat 1916 gift inscription on fep. A lavish production with b/w illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley (as one would expect), Max Beerbohm and Walter Crane, to name but a few of the artists of the era. The index is replete with just about every literary and artistic 'name' of the period.
