The jacket is substantially present with some creasing and chips, most notably to the top and foot of the spine. Now in a protective acetate sleeve. Tanning to the endpapers. The book is signed by Lloyd 'with the author's compliments' and dated September 1925 to the front free endpaper. Lloyd was a businessman and printer who later became an architectural historian and renovator of Dixter (now Great Dixter) House in Northiam, East Sussex. To help restore Dixter and landscape the now world-famous gardens, he commissioned Edwin Lutyens. The work celebrates Yew and Box as plants which can be cut and shaped into architectural forms within the context of a formal garden. Through the planting and landscaping of Great Dixter, Lloyd, followed by his son, Christopher, left an enduring legacy on generations of British gardeners. Books signed by Lloyd are very scarce.
