Book Description

Collection of exactly what it says in the title. War medal ribands which are slotted in, three ribands to a strip, mostly six to a page. Starting with, and by way of example, "The Most Noble Order of the Garter 1334". Absolutely wonderful collection over some 13 pages housed in a blue cloth binding with gilt title lettering on the front and spine. Spink & Sons advertisement at the rear, promoting their Numismatists & Medals catalogue. Laid in is a promo leaflet for Decorations Etrangeres. A unique piece with great provenance having been given as a present by A.W.F. Fuller, the British anthropologist and ethnographic collector, to his brother, almost certainly therefore J.F.C. Fuller, the famous and infamous military historian, tank warfare pioneer and, later, right wing sympathizer. The light pencilled gift inscription reads: "Hoping it will be useful, from Walter 10/2/1906. This is one of a collection of books acquired from the descendants of Fuller. In all a unique piece.
