Sammelband of seven pamphlets bound, stitched, together. Six with no imprint. Format, octavo. Uncut. All with drop head titles.
1.- The wit and wisdom absolute, of Alderman Thompson, of the City of York. Physical description, [1] 2 - 9 [1]. Plates [1], engraved frontispiece of Thompson by Rushworth with tissue guard. Text s+igned Frater Marcator Ebor.
2.- Specimen. The utility of corporate of corporate exchanges, written on viewing the interior of S. Andrew's, or the Guildhall of Norwich, when on a tour ... in 1819. Physical description, [1] 3 (i.e.2) printers error.
3.- Particulars of the early life and habits, of Mr. Lumley Kettlewell; with an enumeration of the Blood Horses which died in his possession. Physical description, [1] 53 - 64 [2], [1] 2 - 4. Plates [1] frontispiece.
4. - Extracted from the York Herald, of Nov. 16,1805. Matt Horsley, the Foxhunter. Physical description, [1] 2 - 8. With a tailpiece.
5. - Memoir of Adam Mond, a miserly beggar. Physical description, [1] 2 - 10.
6.- Anecdote of Miss (familiarly called ) Nan Catley. Physical description, [2]. Leeds: S.Jowett, Printer.
7. - A brief sketch of the late Mrs. Margaret Wharton of York -- from Hutton's ' Trip to Cotham.' Physical description, [1] 2 - 4.
All the pamphlets are in a near fine condition, clean, bright and bound in drab blue paper wrappers, the upper cover with the printed paper title - ' Biographical sketches of remarkably eccentric Characters No.2'.
All are held at York Minster Library only, however there are slight variations in the titles. University College London, holds a copy of - ' A sketch of the life and eccentricities of the late Mr. Lumley Kettlewell of the city of York,' again with variations in the title.
A curious sammelband of material, all but one relating directly to York, only one having an imprint, and probably put together by a person or persons unknown with the addition of the printed paper title label.
