Book Description

Bound in original decorative cloth with black lettering to front and spine, in very good condition, just light wear. All edges turquoise. Size 4to, 31 x 25.5cm. A few small institutional stamps within the text & number bottom of spine. No stamps on plates. Text in German, very good condition Illustrated with 243 sepia, photographic plates & 3 plans. Complete. All in Fine, clean condition. Superb images of Afghanistan and its people, the photographs taken by the German mission sent to Afghanistan during the First World War, with the express purpose of inciting the Afghans against the British rulers in India.
Dealer Notes
Oskar Ritter Von Niedermayer (1885-1948) was a German General, Professor and super-spy. Often referred to as the German Lawrence.
He led the 1915-1916 Persian and Indo-German-Turkish mission to Afghanistan and Persia during WWI.
