Dealer Notes
Contains all the poems by Auden printed in magazines or anthologies after 1930, which with a few exceptions mentioned in the notes were not subsequently included in any of his volumes of poetry. This is a typed copy, not a photocopy.
This copy of The Uncollected Poetry was sold at auction with another copy numbered 1. Unlike this copy it was only bound in quarter cloth with paper covered boards. Interestingly it had a small piece of watermarked paper matching the paper used here laid in. Written on it and obviously referring to the three copies was the following: ‘1. (blank)/ 2. EM /3. AJD’. I have not been able to find out who ‘AJD’ is but ‘EM’ is obviously Edward Mendelson Auden’s biographer referred to in the previous item.
