First Edition thus. Edition de luxe printed at the Ballantyne Press in an edition of 375 copies (350 for sale). With an introduction by F B Money-Coutts. Publisher’s flexible parchment boards with gilt lettering to upper and spine along with a green device of interlaced leaves and vines. Spine slightly darkened but title lettering still easily legible. Remnants of old silk ties. 66 printed pages. With eight engraved plates by Herbert Cole (1867-1930) including the frontispiece, each with tissue-guard, and numerous engraved head and tailpieces and illuminated initials. Half-title with vignette illust. Six blank leaves at both front and back. Covers slightly soiled and bowed, with some light rubbing at head of the spine.
