Hardback. A very attractively bound volume by Leighton, Son and Hodge, in red cloth with heavy gilt decoration to front and spine and heavily textured with impressed details including a deeply impressed unusually shaped central panel with with gilt background and blind titles in relief. Blind decorations continue onto lower board. Boards are deeply bevelled. With Twenty-Six Illustrations Engraved on Wood by Dalziel, Green, Thomas and E. Williams, From Drawings by Daniel Maclise, R.A. Gilt to all edges. Leighton, Son and Hodge label to rear endpaper. Cloth is a little faded to spine and to edges with small area of loss to head of spine. Rubbed to spine and to corners. Internal front hinge is cracking and there is some slight gapping to the guttering towards the centre of the text block. Heavily foxed to first pages and occasionally thereafter.
