First deluxe edition, taken from the sheets of the thirteenth, tenth and tenth impressions respectively. Octavo. Three volumes housed in the Pauline Baynes slipcase. Each volume bound in black buckram with gilt lettering and decoration. All edges gilt. A near fine set, a little light rubbing to the spines, in a bright, near fine box, with minimal rubbing and in much better condition than usually encountered. Neat ownership inscriptions dated April 1967 to each front free endpaper.
One of the most attractive, sought after and rarest editions of The Lord Of The Rings, being one of just 1,000 sets produced in this format.
