FIRST AND ONLY EDITION. Signed by The Rev. Awdry on a bookplate mounted onto the front pastedown endpaper. Illustrated with seven maps, two leaves of illustrations of some of Sodor's Engines and five mono photos of the Rev. Awdry. Publishers blue cloth with gilt stamped image of Thomas the tank Engine to the front board and gilt lettering and ruled lines to the spine. A fine copy in a near fine original dustwrapper, illustrated in colour and gold, which has some minor creasing to the edges and a small production fault where the laminate on the front panel has creased in two places (see photo). ------ A detailed study of the fictional island of Sodor, the home to Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, created by brothers Wilbert and George Awdry, this is a rare volume which the publishers have not reprinted, with the added bonus of having The Rev Awdry's signature present.
