A very good example in a recent leather binding of half tan calf. Marbled paper on boards and a burgundy leather title label, ruled and lettered in gilt, on the front panel. Overall a very good copy of this scarce and attractive work. --------- Starting with the Artist's rough crossing of the Channel and stage coach from Dover, The London scenes include Pall-Mall, Westminster Abbey, A Horse race, Boxing match, and Boat race. ----- The sketches for this work were drawn during Lami's first visit to England in 1826. '.... a set of a dozen delicately hand coloured lithographs. These were intended as a memento for for tourists from the Continent of their trip to London, illustrating the journey, the sights, and typical Anglo-Saxon diversions.' -- Bernard Adams: London illustrated. 1604 - 1851. No. 237. --- Gordon N. Ray: The At of the French Illustrated Book. 1700 to 1914. No. 138.
