illustrated with thirty-three plates, engraved by W.Hollar. with descriptions in English and French. 8vo. pp[iii] 70 + plates. good condition hardback in a contemporary straight-grain black morocco leather binding, with gilt borders and gilt decoration to the spine. all edges gilt. light wear and rubbing to the binding and bruising to the corners. some dust or finger mark soiling to the plate surrounds and title-page, otherwise generally clean, though a bit age musty. book-plate to front paste-down. oval library stamp to first text page. small catalogue number to verso of title-page.

This is one of the scarce editions with the plates hand-coloured, comprising full-page frontispiece, thirty smaller plates and two sepia tone engraved portraits of Holbein and Hollar.
The hand colouring still nice and fresh.
