4to [30x24cm]. ppiv 222, 44. 59 [of 60] lithograph plates depicting the fish, all but one hand-coloured, plus the three plain plates showing fishing tackle, etc. plate 34 not bound in. all the colour plates clean and fresh, but damage to surrounds of plates 23 and 24, with substantial loss, though not affecting the image. scattered foxing to text pages, sometimes heavy, also affecting one of the plain plates, and the verso of the uncoloured 'fish' plate. 3cm closed tear to margin of plate 42. many of the colour plates have the corresponding English name neatly written beneath the printed Latin caption. well bound in a 19th century quarter roan binding, mellowed and lightly rubbed to the spine, with mark to the foot from the removal of a shelf label.
