Reprinted from The Family Tutor, Vol. III 1852, by the author's sister, Emma Darwin, wife and cousin of Charles Darwin & granddaughter of Josiah Wedgwood. Publisher's cloth, gilt titles to spine & front board. Spine ends and extremities bumped, a damp stain to rear board and the odd scuff to boards. Pencil inscription 'Mr. Wedgwood gave it to O & me, Everett' to verso of half title; occasional spot internally. Illustrated with engravings throughout. An scarce Victorian edition of this children's novel, which was privately printed by the Darwin & Wedgwood families; later it was illustrated by Gwen Raverat and printed in a public run.
