Moore (1841-1887) made extensive Alpine tours in the years 1860-81, including this one with Whymper and Horace Walker in 1864. His work was first issued privately in 1967. This new edition, edited by A. B. W. Kennedy of the Alpine Club, includes illustrations not present in the 1867 edition. It also draws on Moore’s previously unpublished diaries, and offers his account of the first ascent of the Brenva ice-ridge on Mont Blanc.
