Book Description

?First edition. 8vo (approx. 175 x 130mm.). 24 lithographic views; some occasional spotting or foxing, heavy to six plates, one plate with loss to fore-edge margin (not affecting image - binder’s error?), else very good in the original printed wrappers with details of them publisher to rear, minor creasing to corners of wrappers.
Dealer Notes
Not in the usual bibliographies. An attractive album of views in and around Chamonix, with images of Mont Blanc, and adjacent regions. One image shows a party of climbers during an ascent (“Ascension au Mont-Blanc”). According to the advertisement on the rear wrapper, Briquet et Dubois were “Libraires et Marchands d’Estampes”, specialising in “Itinérauresm Guides, Vues, Costumes, Cartes géographiques etc.”. We have had similar viewbooks of Chamonix and Mont Blanc published by Briquet et fils, but the present souvenir appears to be unrecorded and indeed we can not locate any examples in library holdings on KVK or Worldcat.
