First Edition. Orange cloth covers with gilt lettering to the spine, looking a little tired with a few marks and rubbing to the edges. Decorative endpapers and illustrated in black & white by Harold Jones. Internally clean with sporadic spotting and light marks throughout the book. A touch of spotting to front endpapers and small tear close with a little movement to front board. Unclipped dust jacket, also looking a little tired with browning and light marks, creases, chipping and loss to the tips of the spine, please see photos for better description of condition. 307pp. 'Mary Evelyn Atkinson (1899–1974), writing as M. E. Atkinson, was a prolific English children’s writer born in London. She was best known for her series on the Lockett family - children's adventure stories typical of the 1940s and 1950s. She also wrote the Fricka series, mostly about ponies. Smugglers' Gap is her fourth title and part of the Lockett Series'.
