Book Description

A handsome volume of both the First and Second Series of Emerson's essays, in a very attractive binding. Sir John Lubbock's Hundred Books: Essays, By Ralph Waldo Emerson, Author's Copyright Edition. Comprising both First and Second Series.  Published by George Routledge and Sons, London and New York. Printed in London, from American Plates, by William Clowes and Sons, Limited. Undated, but William Clowes and Sons Ltd operated under that particular name form, we believe, from 1880 onwards. We have followed Worldcat's indication that the book is from 1893. A fine hardback bound with later red leather spine and corners, with raised bands, gilt decals and maroon morocco labels, with marbled paper over boards. Soundly bound. Gilt top edge to text block. Text is in lovely bright, clean condition throughout. A few occasional age spots to edge of text block and scattered light usage mark. A very attractive copy. Text in English. 343 + 270pp. Dimensions: Approx 190mm high x 137mm wide x 33mm deep. Weight: Approximately 572g (unpacked).
