D. Taylor's early life PTE Deborah Betty Taylor was born on January 7th 1916, and attended Altrincham County High School for Girls and joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) in 1941, the year the ATS was given full military status. Upon her discharge in 1946, her military conduct was ranked exemplary and her testimonial reads as follows: 'Was proved an able and willing worker. Neat appearance and pleasant manner. Thoroughly trustworthy and capable of taking responsibility and using her own initiative'. Documents show that as of late 1943, D. B. Taylor began signing her name L/Cpl. D. B. Taylor (G. L. Maintenance). This archive is a testament to her service and her being capable of taking responsibility and using her own initiative. More details available on request.
